Eagle Transfer has moved across the parking lot, that is. The 98-year-old company has moved into a newly renovated space in the same office park. "We used to rent the warehouse to USF Redaway," said Debbie Gurnard, ETC's General Manager. When they moved out last autumn, renovation of the old Smucker's Jam warehouse began. "It was originally being remodeled for another customer," said Debbie. When that business decided the space was too large, it occurred to Mike Walker, ETC's owner, that the space might be perfect for Eagle Transfer Company. The newly renovated warehouse includes a new reception area for Teri Porter, as well as offices for Debbie Gurnard and Greg Rosenau. The drivers also have a brand-new driver's lounge, new restrooms and a kitchenette area. The remainder of the warehouse will be used for storage. Eagle Transfer moved into its former site in 1989, following completion of a 14,400 sq. ft. concrete tilt-up warehouse which was completed on the same piece of property. "We're planning to turn our former office into more warehouse space," said Debbie, "which will bring our total space to 49,400 feet."
"We also have a space in our new building dedicated to packing and crating, as well as shipping small packages. We plan to focus more on material sales, as well," said Debbie. "Since all the furniture at our new location was built in, all we had to do was move the contents of our desks and our computers, so this was an easy job for our guys," said Debbie.
An open house is being planned for later this summer, when the bulk of the outside construction has been completed. The renovation project was part of an overall face-lift for the buildings at 1751 North Wenatchee Avenue. All four of the buildings were given a new look with the addition of exterior stucco.
